IPL-7 Auction 2014: Yuvraj, Karthik and Pieterson Highest Earners on Day 1

In the mid of controversies around the IPL, first day of IPL auction went smooth and there we got to see many surprise buys. There were many cricketers who got much higher price than anticipated while some got much below. IPL auction was a little off color as there was complete no for the Sri Lankan players very clearly due to the stand of Sri Lanka Cricket Board against the new rules in ICC.

Yuvraj Singh set to play for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL-7
The auction was held to choose the players from 511 cricketers by different franchises. As most of the IPL franchises have already retained 1 to 5 players so they were little low on the purse while Delhi Daredevils came with full purse of Rs. 60 crores. IPL 2013 champion Mumbai Indians, three times IPL champion Chennai Super Kings and Champions League Twenty20 2013 finalist Rajasthan Royals retain maximum 5 players.

It was expected from Delhi Daredevils to go for marquee players with full purse and start their IPL campaign all over again after their table bottom performance last season. Delhi Daredevils bought highest number of players on day with 13 players as they are in the process of building a new team. Delhi was closely followed by the Sunrisers Hyderabad with 11, Punjab with 10 , Bangalore with 9,  Chennai and Kolkata with 8 each,  Rajasthan with 6 while defending champion Mumbai with 5.

Race to IPL-7 Started with the Auction
A total of 216 players out of the 511 players came under the hammer on day 1 but only 70 players found bidders. To the surprise of everyone Yuvraj Singh went to Royal Challengers Bangalore for 14 Cr that was highest bid for a player on day 1 while recently sacked cricketer from  England Kevin Pieterson was bought for 9 Cr. by Delhi Daredevils. Dinesh Karthik was bought by the Delhi Daredevils for the huge amount of 12.5 Cr.

    1. Yuvraj and KP are definitely players in the T20 format and they deserve the price they got. Maybe Yuvraj Singh got much more looking at his current form and also at his past performance in IPL.

    1. Anderson scored fastest ODI century in just 36 balls hitting 12 sixes, this is more than enough to know about his hitting skills. His medium fast bowling makes him player to watch out this season.
