Next in Samuels, who has been struggling for runs this season, and Bravo put on a partnership of 40 runs. At the end of 39th over, the score of West Indies was 150 at the loss of 5 wickets while Captain Dwayne Bravo and K pollard were on the ground. They played accordingly with the blend of caution and aggression. Bravo and Pollard put on 70 runs and helped West Indies to a score of 220 in 49th over.
47th over of the inning from Wahab Riyaz costs Pakistan 18 runs and helped West Indies in scoring a fighting total. West Indies lost the wickets of Pollard, Sammy and Roach in last overs but captain Bravo made it sure that West Indies reaches to a respectable total. West Indies scored 232 in their allotted overs and Bravo remained unbeaten at the score of 43.
BOWLING :
For Pakistan last match hero Afridi and Ajmal picked up 2 wickets each while the 1 wicket each was picked up by Asad Ali and Md Irfan. Pakistan bowling was a bit wayward and undisciplined and they gave away 38 runs as extras. Afridi was most successful bowler and he proved his worth by ball taking 2 key wickets giving away only 29 runs in 10 overs.
Pakistan Inning
BATTING :
Chasing the score of 233 to win, Pakistan started cautiously and scored 37 runs in first 10 overs without losing a wicket. Pakistan lost opener Shahzad in 11th over and Md Hafeez came at no.3 to carryforward the Pakistani inning. In 18th over M Hafeez got out scoring 20 runs at the team score of 64 runs. Dismissal led to the arrival of skipper Misbah to the pitch. Both Misbah and Jamshed helped Pakistan to score 100 runs by 26th over. At 103 Pakistan lost their skipper contributing 17 runs to the team total.
Umar Akmal playing a shot |
Dismissal of the Pakistani skipper Misbah ul haq opened the flood gate and Pakistan lost Asad shafiq, Nasir Jamshed, Shahid Afridi , Wahab Riyaz and Saeed Ajmal ddn’t in quick time. Nasir Jamshed scored 54 runs before getting out. Last match hero Shahid Afridi could contribute only 10 runs to score of team. Umar Akmal was the last hope for Pakistan and he did well but under high pressure of runs and lack of partners he got out scoring quick 50 runs. Team Pakistan ended their inning at 195 in 48th over and lost the match by 37 runs.
BOWLING :
Sunil Narnie who was thrashed by Afridi in last ODI picked up 4 wickets for only 26 runs in his quota of 10 overs. Captain Dwayne Bravo picked up last two wickets of the Pakistan inning. Kemar Roach started brilliantly a bowled 4 maidens in his 6 overs giving just 14 runs and picked up 1 wicket. One wicket went each to Sammy, Samuels and Pollard. Sammy playing in his 100th ODI for West Indies couldn't do too much with the bat but bowled tightly and maintain the pressure on Pakistan which helped him to be on winning side in his 100th match.
Sunil Narnie was declared Man of the Match for his superb bowling spell. Narnie along with the Bravo brothers won this match for the West Indies and also equalized the series 1-1. Pakistan put up too much pressure by chasing the score very slowly and that is what led to their debacle. West Indies need to improve their fielding and also maintain discipline in bowling. Failure of Chris Gayle is also a big concern for the windies team.
Pakistan gave away 38 runs as extras which played a crucial role in loss of Pakistan on the slow and turning track. If there bowling and fielding have been more disciplined and accurate mark then West Indies couldn’t have scored that many runs. Anyway there are still 3 more matches to be played so it is going to be close series.
West Indies team is getting into the form and they are going to put up good fight in upcoming matches...
