The game of Cricket doesn’t require any introduction as it the second most followed sport in world. Like I have written about the leading batsmen in the cricket history run wise in my earlier posts in the top 10 run scorers in ODI cricket , top 10 run scorers in test cricket and top 10 run scorers in t20 cricket forms of cricket. I followed them with list of top 10 test wicket takers in cricket in the test cricket and now I have brought in leading wicket takers in the ODI format. ODI is short form for the One Day International cricket. ODI cricket got popular very quickly as it brought in new rules for the dress, overs, match time etc. in the cricket. If we talk in common language, Cricket is basically played between the bowlers and batsmen of two teams. In cricket both batsmen and bowlers have equal opportunities to outplay each other and win the game for their respective teams.
Here is the list of top 10 Wicket takers in the ODI format :-

Sri Lankan off spinner M Muralitharan popularly called as the Spin Wizard. He is highest wicket taker in ODI format like in test cricket too. The variety he had in his bowling made it possible for him to be at the top spot in the league of legendary bowlers. He played very crucial role in the success of the Sri Lankan cricket team at international level. If you closely view the list you get to know that the list is well dominated by the fast bowlers as four bowlers of the top 5 are quick/fast bowlers. He was also dragged in the controversies all due to his unorthodox action. Later, his action was found clean by the International Cricket Council. Overall he was great players off the field as well as on the field. M Muralitharan was a true gentleman and a great ambassador for the game of cricket.
