Hamish Rutherford Scores Century in Debut Test Against England

It was dream come true cricket match for New Zealand left handed batsman Hamish Rutherford who was playing in his debut test against the England cricket team. It was a dream debut for the Rutherford as he scored a brilliant century in his first match that too in front of the home crowd. He became 10th New Zealand batsman to score a hundred on his debut. His inning started with a boundary on the second day of test match in response of the England score and the southpaw scored blistering 167 runs to start his international cricket career.

New Zealand openers Peter Fulton and Hamish Rutherford provided New Zealand a beautiful start by adding 158 runs for opening wicket stand. In the day that was badly affected by the bad weather and rain, Hamish continued to carry on his inning before getting out of the James Anderson at the score of 171 runs on third day of the match. He became second highest scorer by a kiwi batsman in test cricket in debut inning five short of 176 runs, the record.

This inning has also shown his mental strength and the concentration that is required in the test format of cricket. He played his inning at high pace as the grounds in New Zealand are on the smaller side. But taking nothing away from the debutant he struck 22 fours and 3 beautiful sixes against good English bowling side. His inning helped the kiwi team to take a healthy lead in their first innings & also find an opener for which they are looking since the retirement of the great kiwi batsman and great skipper Stephen Fleming.  The shoe of Stephen Fleming is very large for the debutant to fit into, but he is definitely a good hope for the kiwis.
